The federation now includes 143 Communities in 35 countries, from Belgium to Brazil, Uganda to the United States, including the UK. It is led and supported by a leadership team, legally incorporated in France. 20 more isolated communities in developing countries (including Uganda, Zimbabwe, Palestine, Syria, Ivory Coast, Haiti, India, Croatia, Romania and Ukraine) depend directly on L'Arche International for support.
Over 3,500 people with learning disabilities live in L’Arche Communities worldwide, being part of this worldwide family allows us to experience diversity and difference. Belonging to a worldwide organisation enriches the life of each community.
Across the world L'Arche is working to provide support to people with learning disabilities so that they can take their rightful place in society. As an international organisation it seeks to promote diversity and solidarity across psychological as well as geographical boundaries.
